Your New Patient Visit at Washington Square Dental

At Washington Square Dental, your first visit sets the foundation for a lasting relationship. During this important appointment, we’ll review your medical and dental history in detail. You’ll also have the chance to meet your doctor and our team, providing a comfortable space to discuss any questions or concerns about your oral health and treatment plan. We prioritize a relaxed, unrushed atmosphere to make your initial visit as welcoming and informative as possible.

Step 1: Your Appointment

Upon your arrival, our welcoming team will be ready to assist you with check-in, notifying your oral health team of your arrival, and verifying insurance if applicable. To save time, we recommend completing any new patient forms sent in your appointment confirmation email before you arrive.

Afterward, a friendly team member will escort you from the waiting room to a private treatment room. During your visit, our dental team will review your dental and medical history and discuss any dental health concerns or issues you may have. To further assess your oral health, our dental assistant will take X-rays to examine the jaw’s structure, teeth position, and tooth condition.

Step 2: Your Exam

Once you’re settled in a treatment room, a team member will review your dental and medical history and any concerns you may have. We use advanced dental technology such as intraoral cameras to provide a 3-D video tour of your teeth and jaw structure, allowing us to make more accurate diagnoses and provide personalized treatment plans.

During your comprehensive exam, we will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth, and take x-rays to assess your overall oral health. Our goal is to help you achieve your dental goals while ensuring your comfort and satisfaction. After the exam, we will review our findings with you and discuss recommended treatments and procedures.

Step 3: Your Hygiene Visit

During your first visit, our dental team will perform a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth to develop a treatment plan tailored to your oral health needs. Depending on your condition, a cleaning may be included.

Our skilled hygienist will conduct an oral cancer screening and assess the overall health of your teeth and gums. If a cleaning is appropriate, they will use traditional tools or advanced water-powered instruments to remove plaque and tartar. You’ll also receive personalized tips on maintaining oral hygiene and preventing gum disease. The hygiene exam typically takes about 45 minutes, and you’ll leave with a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste to support your home care routine.

New Patient Forms

To prepare for your upcoming appointment, Washington Square Dental provides our patient forms online. Completing forms before your visit will also help ensure timely check-in for your appointment.  If you are unable to print and complete the forms, we ask that you arrive for your appointment 15 minutes early, so you may complete them in the office.

Learn More About New Patients at Washington Square Dental

Yes! Washington Square Dental accepts new patients and is often able to schedule appointments within a few weeks or even days. Your first visit will usually include an appointment with the doctor for a comprehensive exam and all necessary X-rays. During your new patient appointment, you can speak with our dentists about any specific trouble areas or concerns.

In the past, you may have been able to schedule your first appointment with a new dentist for just a dental cleaning. However, our dentists follow current standards in the dental field and all new patients receive a comprehensive oral examination and any necessary X-rays. This ensures that the dentist has a full and clear picture of your mouth and oral health before proceeding with care. If cleaning is the proper next course of treatment, appointments are often available on the same day.

At Washington Square Dental, we strive to make quality dental care accessible to everyone. We accept most major insurance plans and can assist with processing claims. For those without insurance or in need of flexible payment solutions, we proudly accept Sunbit, making it easier to manage your dental expenses. Our team is happy to discuss your financial options and find a solution that works for your budget. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!
